Getting to Kamloops:

  • Air Canada and WestJet both fly in to Kamloops. Direct flights are available from Vancouver and Calgary.
  • If you are within the lower mainland of British Columbia, you may prefer to take a bus. The Greyhound station is very centrally located; travel time is approximately 4-5 hours from Vancouver, and 2 hours from Kelowna.

Getting from the Kamloops airport to downtown:

Getting to Thompson Rivers University (TRU):

TRU is centrally located within Kamloops. If you are staying at the Best Western, it is approximately a 15-20 minute walk or a 3-minute cab ride away.

Public Transportation

TRU is accessible via bus routes 4, 5, 7, 9, and 10. If you are staying within the Kamloops downtown core, routes 7 and 9 will be the best bus routes to the university. Fare is $2.00. For more information, see https://bctransit.com/kamloops/fares.

Child Care Information:

The Kamloops Child Care Resource and Referral Centre maintains an ongoing list of child care centres that provide temporary or day service. If you require child care during the conference, please call them at (250) 376-4771, and they will work with you to find an option that suits your needs.

Getting around Kamloops:

Downtown Kamloops is fairly small, with the bulk of local shops and restaurants located in or around Victoria Street.
There are numerous hiking trails around the city.  Tourism Kamloops has suggestions of other things to do and see.
